Veronika Csiszár has over fifteen years of experience in multilateral diplomacy and international relations, focusing on sustainable development and cooperation. Prior to joining GGI as Visiting Fellow, Ms Csiszar served as Senior Adviser on Sustainable Development in the office of the President of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly, seconded by the Hungarian foreign service.
From 2019 to 2021 Ms. Csiszar worked as a national expert in the Headquarters of the European Union’s External Action Service, as policy officer for sustainable development, liaison officer with Member States and inter-institutional focal point at the Development Cooperation Coordination Division. In 2017-2018 at Hungary’s Permanent Mission to the UN, as Second Committee delegate she covered economic, financial, development, science, climate change, environment, water, sanitation, health and other related policies. She coordinated on matters under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council and its functional commissions, the High Level Political Forum and other heads of state and government, as well as ministerial level events. She also acted as a focal point in the intergovernmental negotiations on the Global Compact for Migration. From 2012 to 2016 at the Permanent Representation of Hungary to the European Union, Ms. Csiszar was her country’s delegate in the Council Working Parties on Development Cooperation; United Nations affaires; International Environmental Issues; and on development-related international conferences. She also led on the EU’s external financial instruments under the Union’s common budget and was the focal point for humanitarian assistance, including emergencies. Ms. Csiszar started her diplomatic career in Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2009, following environment and climate change at the Department for EU Sectoral Policies until 2010. From 2010 to 2012, she was a multilateral officer at the Department of International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid. From 2007 to 2009, she worked in field program operations management at the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. As junior officer, she gained experience in the fields of consular protection and protocol. In the private sector, she worked in the area of human resources. Ms Csiszar has a Masters degree in International Relations and Economics (Corvinus University of Economics 2010). Her BSc degrees are in Economic Diplomacy and International Management (Budapest Business School 2005); Strategic Management and European Business Studies (Avans International Business School, the Netherlands 2005); and International Relations in the private sector (University of Western France, Institute of Modern Languages, 2006). She is fluent in English, French and German and has basics in Spanish.
