Prof. Simion Costea is a Senior Resident Fellow in the Global Education and Innovation section of the Global Governance Institute. He is also a Jean Monnet Professor of EU Institutions, History and Strategies at the George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures in Transylvania, Romania. Between 2012 and 2022 Simion was an Expert in the European Commission (DG NEAR), working on policy and strategy for the EU’s European Neighbourhood Policy, the Eastern Partnership, and Enlargement Negotiations (where he served as Chapter desk for Ch. 30 – External Relations and Ch. 33 – Financial and budgetary provisions) working also for the Commissioners` Group on External Action, Outreach to Think-tanks and Academia. Before this, he has worked as Policy Advisor on foreign affairs in the European Parliament (2007-2010). Simion has authored or co-authored 8 books and over 45 scientific articles.
